Academic Overview

Our main focus at Learning Hive is to harness and celebrate the individuality of each child. Every child is uniquely talented, however many of them struggle to succeed academically.

Our Learning Framework

Learning Hive Christian Academy is made up of two departments, Early Years and Primary, each shaped around what a child needs at that stage. Underneath both sits the same belief: every child can learn well when they’re taught in a way that fits them, in an environment shaped by Christian Values.

Early Years blends the comfort of home with real structure. We follow our own curriculum, informed by the National Association for the Education of Young Children’s guidance on what’s developmentally appropriate, built around a daily schedule children can count on. It flexes around each child, but it still gives them the steadiness that lets real bonds with teachers and classmates take hold.

Primary follows the English National Curriculum, adapted through Cambridge International, with maths taught through the Singapore Maths approach and measured against Cambridge’s own benchmarks. It’s a strong academic programme that keeps faith woven in rather than set aside.

Our small class sizes are what make this possible. They give our teachers room to teach both ways, directed and student-led, so children walk away with real depth in a subject and the kind of understanding that lets them connect ideas, not just memorise them in pieces. Learning here should feel enjoyable, not just rigorous.

“For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul. Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.” - Proverbs 2:10-11

Early Years Program

Primary Department

Our primary follows the English National Curriculum, adapted through Cambridge International, with maths taught through the Singapore Maths approach and measured against Cambridge’s own benchmarks.

Reception

Our kindergarten level, where it all begins. Children step into a warm, structured environment built around play, curiosity, and routine. Through a developmentally appropriate curriculum grounded in Christian values, they build confidence, form their first real friendships, and discover that learning, from day one, can feel like home.

Lower Primary

These are the foundational years, where core skills in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking take root. Students explore the Cambridge curriculum in small, supportive classes designed to nurture both academic ability and character. Christian values are woven into daily learning, giving children a strong, grounded start to their education.

Upper Primary

At this level, students take on bigger ideas and greater independence. Building on earlier years, they deepen their understanding across subjects, sharpen problem-solving skills, and prepare academically and spiritually for secondary school. Small class sizes keep learning personal, so each child is known, challenged, and supported as they grow in faith.

Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Our learning support services exist to help students with learning challenges grow into confident, independent learners. We believe every child deserves to be appropriately challenged toward their full potential, and for some, that means offering additional support along the way.

Our aim is for every student to learn alongside their peers, fully integrated into regular lessons, working toward the same goals with the support they need to get there. Classroom teachers and learning support staff work closely with parents to understand and address each student’s specific needs.

For students who need more sustained, structured support, we create an Individual Education Plan (IEP), giving them access to more intensive, targeted learning support tailored to how they learn best.
